A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR

Dear Parishioners and Guests:

As the bulletin goes to press, we are waiting for Bishop Campbell to make known his plans for our future—yours with a new pastor and mine with a new parish.  I am also in the dark about the plans you have as a parish for Saturday’s “Open House.”  I was told to keep my calendar clear and to be there.  You have done a good job of not telling me what you have planned.

Since it has been called a “going away party” (I heard this from the Bishop!), I trust that it was to be a way of sharing the joy of the more than a dozen years we have spent together here at Blessed Sacrament.  And so, I thank you for all that went into the event.  It has been a “good run” and I am truly in awe of all that we have accomplished together.

So many tell me that I will be missed.  I can assure you as well that I will miss you, even as I grow to love a new parish family.  You will always have a special place in my heart.  They say a Pastor’s first parish always has such a place.

On this Trinity Sunday, I want to remind you that we are always united through the Love of God.  What we have enjoyed together never really ends because it has God at its center.  As we spend time in adoration of the Lord after the Masses of this weekend and on our patronal Feast of Corpus Christi next weekend, let us be thankful together for all that God has done with us.  Let us also pray for your new Pastor and my new Parish, whoever and wherever they may be!

Doxology to The Blessed Trinity

Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us.

To You be praise,

To You be glory,

To You be thanksgiving

Through endless ages,

O Blessed Trinity.

Amen.

How Did You Hear The Good News Today?

Television, radio, newspapers, magazines, the Internet - all are places people go to get news and entertainment. But what do we get, exactly, when we turn on “the tube” or log on to the Internet? As a result of your support of the Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC), Catholics and all media consumers have increased opportunities to find Gospel-grounded messages and resources to strengthen their families and their faith. Please contribute generously to CCC in today’s collection. Half of all donations received will remain in our (arch)diocese to fund local Catholic communication efforts. Visit www.CatholicCommunicationCampaign.org for national program information. Thank you for your generous response.

DID YOU KNOW that the human person is destined for a share in the glory of God, with a ministry that is eternal?  Who we are is from God.  Once God puts us into being, as long as we choose to cooperate with His plan for us, we grow in our own unique identity for all time and in Eternity.  The notion of “Eternal Rest” points not to inactivity, as earthly rest does, but rather to an activity that rests upon the very power of God.  We are who we are now in time, and even more so in Eternity.

The Communion of Saints is a cooperation among all who belong to God, each living in interdependence with every other.  God draws us all together into a harmonious whole.  Are you willing to play in His symphony?
