Pastor’s Corner…

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Here is my “bullet - point” pastor’s corner…

VBS: A big “thanks” to all who helped with our Vacation Bible School. The many parents and adult volunteers were a great witness to the vitality and faith of our parish community. The children learned about the love of God and experienced a joy-filled week of fun. The Vacation Bible School was also a great outreach to the children of our neighborhood. I am very grateful for all who extended an invitation to our neighbors. I was happy to learn that Blessed Sacrament is a parish that reaches out to others.

Golf: As of this writing, the annual Holy Name Society – Jack Nutter Memorial Golf Outing, held on Saturday August 2nd has not yet been completed, and thus, results can’t be published. I will be playing and I hope I find more golf balls than I lose and that I don’t “whiff” on any of my attempted tee shots.

Single Parent Family Fair: The Single Parent Family Fair will be held Saturday, August 9th from 10am to 2pm in the Annex. More information is found in the bulletin. I am grateful for all who are organizing this wonderful outreach to the community. The school supplies offered to the children in our community will be a great sign of the love of our community. Again, I am thrilled that we at Blessed Sacrament are a parish that is concerned about the needs of our neighbors.

Mark your calendars for August 15th: Friday, August 15th is the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be held Thursday, August 14th at 6pm, Friday, August 15th at 8:15am and 12 noon.  Holy Days of Obligation are a great opportunity for us to bring the priority of our faith into the everyday circumstances of our week. It will be a great witness to our faith if you have to miss a game, reschedule a meeting, or adjust plans in order to do something more important.

Parishioner input: What does Blessed Sacrament Church mean to you? What are the strengths of our parish? What do you like about? What are areas we can grow in? What are the challenges that we face? What are your dreams for the parish? Let me know. Write me at 394 E. Main St. (signed letters of course), or email me at FatherWilson@blsac.net

God Bless,

Father Wilson

We, along with other area churches, are hosting the Third Annual Single Parent & Family Fair on Saturday, August 9th, 10am – 2pm in the Annex & parking lot.

This annual event enables family’s free access to a wide variety of resources that may help alleviate some of their short and long term burdens with the immediate focus on getting children ready for school.

We’ll also accept school supply donations at the Annex (411 East Main Street) all week.  We’ll also be packing back-packs everyday of this week in the Annex starting 9am and continuing throughout the day and evenings until all of the bags are filled.  We welcome all who can come and spend any time helping with this endeavor.  All ages are welcome!  This is a great opportunity to earn service hours for those who are required do so for sacramental preparation or school.  Bring a friend!

Last year we helped over 550 families and we anticipate this year the need will be even greater.

If you have any questions contact Monica Stanley 763-4047 or Kathy Wilson 345-4290.

Choose Life… “It is morally incoherent to say that abortion is wrong at some stages, and by some methods, but unacceptable at others.  Human life is indivisible in its moral value.  Either it is always and everywhere sacred, or it is always and everywhere disposable.  There can be no middle ground.” (Father Frank Pavone, Priests for Life)
