Pastor’s Corner…
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
On Friday, August 15, we celebrate the Assumption of Mary. On this feast we recall that Mary was assumed into heaven body and soul at the end of her earthly life. This feast is a Holy Day of Obligation. The vigil Mass for this solemnity will be on Thursday, August 14th at 6:00 pm. The Masses here at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament on Friday, August 15th are at 8:15am and 12 noon.
I look forward to celebrating this great feast of Our Lady with all of our parishioners. This Holy Day of Obligation, like all holy days, is a great opportunity for us to express the priority of God in our lives.
God Bless,
Father Wilson

Choose Life… The argument that the government should not be involved in such a personal decision as abortion is fatally flawed. The government got “too involved” in abortion when it claimed (through the Supreme Court) to have the authority to deprive some human beings of their right to life. Also, when someone’s “choice” destroys someone else’s life, that choice is no longer merely a personal, private matter. (Father Frank Pavone)

First Annual Gala to Benefit Catholic
Schools
The Catholic Diocese of Columbus announced that Celebrating Catholic School Virtues, the first annual
Gala for Catholic schools, will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at the Walter
Student Commons of St. Charles Preparatory School in
The event is intended to heighten awareness within the Diocese about the mission, success and challenges of Catholic K-12 schools while raising funds for need-based tuition assistance. Such funds offer Catholic children whose families could not otherwise afford to do so the opportunity to attend Catholic schools.
“Our Catholic schools are part of an important ministry of the Church and for our community, offering a unique educational experience that addresses the whole person,” said the Most Rev. Frederick F. Campbell, D.D., Ph.D., Bishop of Columbus. “Our schools help students develop intellectually, spiritually and morally, guiding them in understanding the obligations of human life, the dignity of the individual, and the shared responsibility for our common good.”
Bishop Campbell explained that the theme – Celebrating Catholic School Virtues – illustrates the critical difference of a Catholic education, which provides not just knowledge and learning but a context within which to frame, analyze, and filter information using prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance – the four cardinal virtues.
