A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR

Dear Parishioners and Guests:

Happy Feast Day!  Today is our Parish Feast (number 3) since it is First Communion Sunday.  Our other Feasts are Corpus Christi (number 1) and Holy Thursday (number 2).  As the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, we celebrate in a special way the Feast of the Body and Blood of the Lord, the Feast of the Institution of the Holy Eucharist, and this moment of passing on our Faith in the Real Presence of the Lord to the next generation.

Today is a day to renew your own Faith in the Eucharist.  What a wonderful Gift the Lord has given to us—His own Reality in a Form that we can receive into our own persons.  When we come forward to receive the Holy Eucharist, we say with our very bodies that we are willing to give ourselves to Christ.  When we consume Him, we are consumed by Him and we become more One with Him and with His Father and the Holy Spirit.  We are fed and nourished by the Food and Drink that wells up in us to Eternal Life.

What an awesome Reality it is to have Faith in the Holy Eucharist.  So many do not know or believe in this Truth.  Sadly, many have believed and have set aside their Faith.  The world and its calls have a power to draw us away if we are not attentive to the practice of our Faith.  Today of all days, let us renew our Faith in the Presence of the Lord.

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, heal me.
Blood of Christ, drench me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
Good Jesus, hear me.
In Your wounds shelter me.
From turning away keep me.
From the evil one protect me.
At the hour of my death call me.
Into Your presence lead me,
to praise You with all Your saints
for ever and ever. Amen.

DID YOU KNOW that the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist is  a renewal of our commitment to the Life of Faith?  Each time we receive Holy Communion, we present ourselves to the Lord in order to acknowledge that we belong to Him.  Baptism opens us to the life of grace.  Confirmation brings the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.  Eucharist feeds and nourishes us with the very substance of Christ Himself in His Risen Glory.

This is not a mere symbol, although it is certainly symbolic.  It is real.  God is the One Who created the universe; He chooses to use a small portion of His creation to give us something beyond our understanding.  Only Faith can grasp this, but wonderfully that gift of Faith is offered even to children.  Are you ready to receive the Lord in the Eucharist and to give yourself to Him?

Secrets of the Life of the Spirit

God calls.  We respond.

Taste and See the Goodness of the Lord.

In the depth of our souls, there is a communication of substance to substance that is guided by Faith.  When we become aware of this, it draws us into the very heart of reality.  Stop.  See.   Believe.  Trust.  Hope.  And Love.  There. God is flowing in and through you in your own uniqueness.  This begins in Time, and it lasts through Eternity.  Yes.  Now.  Let it be.
