A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR
Dear Parishioners and Guests:
Our celebration last weekend was truly
a delight. So many commented on the
positive witness of our second grade First Communion class. Truly they are a sign to us of the Truth of
the Eucharist, for Whom we are named.
I am not sure what “bug” I picked up
that took away my voice more and more as the weekend went on, but I see that
occurrence as a reminder that my voice will soon be heard in other parts (I still
don’t know where). Your voice and your
witness must go on. You have such a
special privilege to be known as the Church of the Blessed Sacrament. I hope and pray that you and the generations
to come will sing out the Name of the Lord by the witness of your lives.
In the meantime, we have work to do
now. Just this week, I received a packet
from the Diocesan Office of Development and Planning in preparation for the
Parish Self Study. A meeting is
scheduled at Seton Parish, Pickerington, on April 29, 2008, from 7:00-8:30
p.m. Each parish is meant to have a team
of 8-10 members involved. If you are
willing to participate, please call the Parish Office to let us know. We will need to let the Office of Development
and Planning know how many to expect. Recall
that the areas in consideration are the Sacramental, Strategic and Sustainable
Nature of the Parish.
It
is important for the future of the Parish and of the Diocese that the People of
God be involved in this process. Now is
the time for every member of God’s Holy People to come to the aid of the
Church. . . .

When April Comes
When April comes
We think of
Of gardens where
the Lord God
Walked with man,
As friend with
friend.
But now the cool
sweet evenings,
Lush with song
And tremulous for
nearness to His Face,
Are
not for men.
To us are left the
mornings newly born
Whose dews are
tears of penitence
Distilled in dark--
Still dawns
baptized
In night's deep
pain and loss.
Our gardens
evermore will hold a tomb,
And every living
thing proclaim
The victory of The
Cross;
And His, Who as the
grain of wheat,
Lay still and cold,
Lest living, He
remains Himself alone.
This human heart of
God has known
Our loves and
tears,
Our night of death,
our grief.
And to Him morning
came
That rising, once
again
He might, as Lord
God,
In
a garden walk with man.
I said to April:
When you come--come.
But swiftly come,
be brief,
Else, can I bear
This revelation of
His rising
Wrought in green
Upon each twisted
bough on each twig,
Upon the swelling
bud, the leaf,
In sudden burst of
song above my head,
The soft, warm,
fertile earth
Beneath my feet.
I, who am but
lately come
From Passiontide,
Where heart and
eyes
Were dark with
veils
Empurpled in His
Blood;
And in whose ears
are sounding still
The lash and thong
and hammer beat,
My sins' shrill cry
that He
Be crucified.
Now just redeemed,
I am too frail, too
weak
To bear this gift
of Love,
This half-veiled
vision of The Risen One,
And in this
springtime, in this garden dare
To
walk with God the Son.
I said to April:
Come,
But swiftly
And be mercifully
brief.

DID YOU KNOW that Committing Yourself is
a necessary step in the Journey of Faith?
Our current culture seems to value holding our options open. If we do not commit, however, we never really
learn what we are capable of accomplishing.
God cannot be outdone in giving.
Just try Him! Commit yourself to
the plan that God reveals and you will go further than you could ever imagine.

Secrets of the Life of the Spirit
God plants seeds in our hearts
that grow in ways beyond our understanding.
When we nurture the seeds that have been planted in our lives and in the
lives of others, we are cooperating with grace.
Children are especially open and receptive to
the kinds of seeds God plants. All are
called to be like children in this quality.
Look back on the best decisions you have made in your life: you will see
that they involved a vision broader than your own. Step by step, God leads us to accomplish the
“greater things” He has in mind for us.

Choose Life… Speaking in defense of the 2000 Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, Rep. Henry Hyde who died this past year said, “This is not a debate about religious doctrine or even about public policy options. It is a debate about our understanding of human dignity, what it means to be a member of the human family, even though tiny, powerless and unwanted.”
