A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR

Dear Parishioners:

This week our Parish buried one of its most generous supporters.  Norbert Rubeck died peacefully in his sleep just four days after attending the funeral Mass of his younger brother George at Blessed Sacrament.  The nine Rubeck brothers are the patriarchs of a clan that has many members in our parish and beyond.

Although he had no children of his own, Norbert was the single most generous individual contributor to Blessed Sacrament School.  His donations toward our new building were a significant portion of our campaign.  He made several other regular contributions in the form of Tuition Aid (“Adopt a Student”) and establishment of endowments that will continue to supply support long into the future. Without a doubt, the Blessed Sacrament School Community has lost a great friend, but we know that he will continue to remember us in the Kingdom.  We thank God for his generosity and he remains in our hearts and prayers.

As Pastor, it is my privilege often to know of the generosity of individuals in our community who make it possible for us to meet all the obligations we have financially and otherwise.  I am in awe of the number of humble, generous souls who contribute for the good of all.  I extend heartfelt thanks to you who are among that number: you and God know who you are.

I invite everyone to follow their example.  Blessed Sacrament Parish and School are a worthy investment of your generosity.  What happens here with your support is truly a building up of God’s Kingdom.

Note: Please see the insert concerning the Catholic Foundation, including two endowments which Norbert Rubeck helped to establish.  Contributions to these in his honor would be gratefully accepted.

An Act Of Faith

O my God, I firmly believe that You are one God in three Divine Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit;
I believe that Your Divine Son became man, and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because You have revealed them, Who can neither deceive nor be deceived.

DID YOU KNOW that the Word of God is the Person of Jesus Christ?  The Word that God has spoken is not merely a written text, but rather is a Living Reality that is continuously present to the Father and to us.  When we live by the Word, we do not simply put wise sayings into practice.  We allow God to speak His Word in and through our lives.  Each of us is a facet of the total Word.  The unique reality of each human being is an expression of the Mystery of God made known through His Word.

As servants of the Word, it is our duty to learn more of God and to grow in our understanding of His Will for us.  Faith enables us to receive the Word in Spirit and in Truth.  Our lives then become the very means by which God communicates Himself to all Creation.
