A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR
Dear
Parishioners:
Only a few more weeks remain before we
see a return to School for our children.
How has your Summer gone? Are
you ready to enter the busy pace of Fall?
Personally, I always hope to get more
done in the Summer months than I manage to accomplish. One thing I have decided to do differently
is not to worry about that. What gets
done, gets done. What does not just
wasn’t in the cards yet.
The attitude I am describing here is
not disinterest or a lack of caring.
Rather, it is detachment and freedom.
Each moment of our lives is a gift, an unrepeatable experience. When we are free to accept it, that moment
can become an encounter with God in the Present, where He Is always waiting for
us. Our God IS. His Being can be received only in the moment
He gives us, now.
Look around you. See your world as God’s gift. Notice those who are part of your daily
routine right now. Appreciate them as
your companions on life’s journey at the present moment. Enjoy your children while you have them with
you. School begins August 22!

Building One Church
Your
generous gift helps fellow Catholics in Latin America and the Caribbean – who
are rich in faith but lacking in material resources – not only to participate
more fully in the life of the Church but to share it with others as well. The United States Conference of Catholic
Bishops’ Committee on the Church in Latin America uses the collection funds to
support its pastoral grants program in twentuy-two countries and to support the
work of the Department of Social Development and Wold Peace on behalf of the
Church in Latin America. Please share your blessings and live in
Stewardship and solidarity Collection for the Church in Latin America this
weekend, August 5/6.

As of the end of July, our Parish Participation in the 2007 BAA is as follows:
We have pledges totaling $41,821.12, toward our goal of $44,597.12. This leaves only $2,776 to go to reach the goal. We have reached 93.9%. Let’s push on toward 100% and more.
Out of 644 households registered with the Diocese of Columbus, 203 are participating, 31.5%. This leaves 441 households not participating, 68.5%.
All members of the parish who have not yet made a pledge are invited to assist us in reaching out goal.
Now is the time for every good soul to come to the aid of our
parish and diocese!

DID YOU KNOW that God calls and human
beings respond? This implies a
relationship that is alive at every moment.
How are you doing in your effort to discover God’s call in your
life? If you listen deeply, you will
hear God’s voice. It will not often be
a voice that you hear with your ears, though even that is always possible. Rather, it will be with “inner ears,” that
is, with your heart.
God speaks to each of us through the
beauty of Creation, and through His Word.
God’s voice is “heard” in the encounters we have with one another, as
well as through the moments of quiet when we are striving to listen.
Hear God’s call.
And respond!

Prayer While
Visiting The Most Blessed Sacrament
by St. Alphonsus Liguori
My Lord Jesus Christ, for the love which You bear to men, You remain night and day in this Sacrament full of compassion and of love, awaiting, calling, and welcoming all who come to visit You. I believe that You are present in the Sacrament of the Altar: I adore You from the abyss of my nothingness, and I thank You for all the graces which You have bestowed upon me and in particular for having given me Yourself in this Sacrament, for having given me your holy Mother Mary for my advocate, and for having called me to visit You in this chapel.
I now salute Your most loving Heart: and this for three ends:
1. In thanksgiving for this great gift;
2. To make amends to You for all the outrages which You receive in this Sacrament from all Your enemies;
3. I intend by this visit to adore You in all the places on earth in which You are the least revered and the most abandoned.
My Jesus, I love You with all my heart. I grieve for having so many times offended Your infinite goodness. I promise with Your grace never more to offend You in the future. Now, miserable and unworthy though I be, I consecrate myself to You without reserve; I give You my entire will, my affections, my desires, and all that I possess. From now on dispose of me and of all that I have as You please. All that I ask of You and desire is Your holy love, final perseverance, and the perfect accomplishment of Your will. I recommend to You the souls in purgatory; but especially those who had the greatest devotion to the most Blessed Sacrament and to the Blessed Virgin Mary. I also recommend to You all poor sinners.
My dear Savior, I unite all my affections with the affections of Your most loving Heart; and I offer them, thus united, to Your eternal Father, and beseech Him in Your name to vouchsafe, for Your love, to accept them. Amen.

What we have
learned together: Patience
is a requirement for anything we do that is really worthwhile. It is not often that the first suggestion is
acknowledged as a good idea. It is
necessary to be persistent if we want to arrive at a goal we set for ourselves. Perseverance is a Gospel virtue that must be
exercised. Keeping our eyes fixed on
what lies ahead, we find our way to wonderful and unexpected places.

Thank You so much to all
who prayed for, assisted with, or provided for the opportunity to have our
first Vacation Bible School! What a
wonderful week we had! A special thank
you to all parents who had children attending as well! What a joy each child gave to each one of
us! We are so blessed to have such a
loving, caring and supportive church community.
God Bless
Monica Stanley

Choose Life… California’s stem cell institute revealed recently that not one embryonic stem cell therapy is expected to be approved for market with the next 10 years. This is in stark contrast to the arguments made before California voters approved Proposition 71 that allocated three billion dollars to embryonic stem cell research. During the campaign for passage, proponents of the measure clearly implied that miraculous cures were just around the corner (San Diego Union-Tribune 10/05/06)
